Lost Motivation??
As a health coach and trainer, I hear people say all the time that they have "lost motivation" or they are "looking for motivation". So I wanted to take a moment to talk about what that looks like and how to make that happen for yourself!
A lot of people sit on their couch/bed/office chair waiting for motivation to randomly come to knock on the door or they think they will just stumble upon it in their junk drawer.
That's not the way it works.
The only way to get motivated is to first TAKE ACTION.
People think that it goes like this:
I'll find motivation > I'll take action > I'll get results > I'll have more motivation
This is close, but the order is off. It starts with action first, especially when you don't want to do it.
Here's the way it actually works:
I'll take action > I'll see results and that I'm capable > I'll get results (scale or non-scale) > I'll take more action and have more motivation
Isn't it motivating knowing that you won't always feel motivated?
So what should you do?
Commit to something that sounds doable. Even if it is to walk one block. If you're asked to conquer everything you want to all at once, that's a huge obstacle a lot of people will not be able to overcome. The hardest part is just starting, so if you can just take the action to get started, you'll get more motivated. Take the action, no matter how small, and it will get bigger because you've now proven to yourself you are capable.
What is one action you can take now to help you continue towards your goals and help you feel more motivated?
